About DesignBlok

DesignBlok, the Prague International Design Festival, is the largest showcase of design and fashion in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1999 and inspired by Milan Design Week, it returns in 2026 for its 28th edition and draws up to 50,000 visitors a year: designers, curators, collectors, architects, interior designers, journalists and design lovers. The festival shows new work from more than two hundred carefully selected makers, studios and established brands, spread across some of Prague's most remarkable buildings.

Light: the 2026 theme

This year's edition is built around one theme: Light, a symbol of knowledge, truth, hope and life. It shapes the festival's philosophy and curation, exploring light in both practical and symbolic terms and asking how design can improve people's lives and respond to today's social and economic challenges. Expect curated exhibitions, exhibitor installations and new work from leading Czech manufacturers and lighting designers, alongside a monumental light object and a historical survey of Central European lamps from the 1950s to the 1980s.

What to expect

DesignBlok opens with a day for industry professionals, followed by five days open to the public. Beyond the exhibitions there is a broad programme of lectures, discussions, fashion shows and special events, plus a two-day international conference on the future of design, architecture and living, co-created with Dezeen. The showcases range from furniture, lighting and interior products by established producers to prototypes, jewellery, fashion and illustration from young designers and design schools.
