Under the theme “Młodość w trybie przetrwania” (Youth in survival mode), this Polish congress looks at the mental-health crises children and adolescents face today and what they mean for the work of psychologists and psychotherapists. The organizers say it goes beyond describing symptoms. It focuses on the mechanisms and functions behind child and adolescent psychopathology, and treats the young person as part of a family and environment rather than in isolation.
The congress day is made up of lectures that each follow the same three-part arc: what clinicians are observing, the mechanisms underneath, and what to do in practice, with case-based discussion throughout. Topics include non-suicidal self-injury and how to tell it apart from suicidal behaviour, body image disorders and dysmorphophobia in teenagers, behavioural and digital addictions, family crises and their impact on a child’s mental health, and anxiety that persists and shows up differently today. A panel discussion examines Generation Z in the consulting room. The second day is a hands-on, three-module workshop on understanding self-harm and suicidal crises in young people, from assessment and intervention in life-threatening situations to longer-term therapeutic support. Depending on the ticket, participants get a certificate of attendance, access to recordings, Q&A with speakers and networking, with catering for those attending in person.
The congress is aimed at child and adolescent psychologists and psychotherapists, school psychologists and professionals who work systemically with families and young people.
