CODECON is a community conference for developers and IT communities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, built around the idea of “by developers, for developers”. It has been running for twelve years, and its stated aim is to build a community that works together to move technology forward. The series now runs in two cities: the Bratislava edition has already taken place in 2026, and CODECON #Žilina follows on 26 November. The Žilina edition is deliberately more intimate. It supports local companies, organizations and speakers, and gives the region a platform to showcase the projects it is building.
The 2026 CODECON themes cover the everyday work of software teams: AI and data, architecture and design patterns, libraries, frameworks and mobile and web applications, quality assurance and automation, cybersecurity, cloud services for developers, tools and design for game and app development, and the soft skills that help tech professionals grow. Talks come in two formats, short 20-minute high-level sessions and longer 50-minute deep sessions, so there is room for both overview and detail. Most lectures are delivered in Slovak, with no simultaneous English translation. Entry is by a QR ticket you receive by email, which you exchange for a wristband at the door. The schedule and live updates are in the CODECON mobile app, and every lecture is recorded and published on the CODECON YouTube channel. The venue is part of the appeal: the organizers point to the New Synagogue’s unique architecture and cultural significance, and describe the day as one meant to inspire attendees professionally and personally. The detailed programme for Žilina is still to be published.
CODECON is for developers and IT professionals working in or around the Slovak and Czech tech scene, whether they build mobile and web apps or work in QA, security or cloud. It also suits anyone curious about what local companies are building and who wants to meet the community behind it. Admission is free, though capacity is limited.
